General Dentistry include a wide array of dental services and procedures. The goal of General Dentistry is to help preserve your natural teeth, promote your best oral health, and protect you and your family from more serious health care issues which may be detected with regular dental visits.
GENERAL DENTISTRY PROCEDURES WE PROVIDE
At El Dorado Family Dental, we provide families just like yours with a wide range of dental procedures and services to protect your oral health including:
Routine Dental Exams & Cleanings
Making regular visits to your dentist office for Routine Dental Exams and Cleanings is the best way to prevent future oral health issues. The American Dental Association recommends regular dental visits every six-months for preventative care. During your visit, Dr. Albik will examine your teeth and gums then perform an oral cancer screening. After the exam, you will receive a through teeth cleaning and polishing to give you a beautiful bright smile. In most cases, dental insurance will cover up to 100% of your preventive care costs.
Dental Fillings are the most common option for repairing damaged or decayed teeth. If you are experiencing pain or discomfort in your mouth, Dr. Albik may be able to solve your problem with a simple dental filling process. In many cases, a damaged tooth can be repaired with a composite filling in just one visit to our dental office. Thanks to advances in dental technology, we no longer use dental amalgam or “silver fillings.” Dr. Albik uses composite resins to create a white or tooth colored filling that matches the surrounding natural teeth.
Dental Crowns for Teeth
Dental Crowns are used to restore teeth that have extensive decay or damage that cannot be repaired with a simple filling. When you need a dental crown, you can rest assured Dr. Albik will create a crown that fits perfectly with your natural teeth and bite. Crowns can be created to blend with surrounding teeth, leaving you with a beautiful smile. Learn More About Dental Crowns for Teeth
Root Canal Therapy
Root Canal therapy may be required to help save an infected or abscessed tooth. When decay spreads past the enamel layer it can cause an infection to the soft pulp in the tooth. This infection can be very painful and spread to surrounding teeth. During a root canal treatment, Dr. Albik carefully removes the infected pulp from the center of the tooth. The canal is then treated with medicine, root canal filling, and ultimately a permanent dental crown is usually required.
Thanks to safe and effective Sedation Treatments available at our dental office, you do not have to let Dental Anxiety prevent your treatment. At El Dorado Family Dental, we offer Conscious Oral Sedation to help you relax and feel more comfortable during your dental appointment. If you would like to learn more about our sedation options or see if you are a good candidate for conscious oral sedation, please contact our office to speak with one of our friendly treatment coordinators. While our goal is to preserve the health of your natural teeth, there are circumstances which require a tooth extraction. Advanced tooth decay, severe infection of the tooth roots, and tooth crowding are all reasons Dr. Albik may recommend a dental extraction as part of your treatment plan. Replacing missing teeth that have been extracted with a Dental Implant is often recommended. Learn More About Dental Tooth Extractions
Dental bridges can provide an alternative solution to dental implants for replacing missing teeth. Just like a traditional bridge, a dental bridge attaches to existing teeth by dental crowns on both ends of the missing tooth or teeth. A false tooth, called a “potonic” is fixed between the crowns. There are two types of bridges available, removable and fixed bridges. A removeable bridge can be taken out by you at home for cleaning, while fixed bridges can only be removed by your dentist. If you are missing a tooth or teeth, schedule a consultation with Dr. Albik today to see if a dental bridge is a good option for your dental health.
Wisdom Teeth Removal
Dr. Albik has performed thousands of wisdom teeth removals across the state for patients just like you. The average adult mouth will hold 28 teeth, however by late teens to early 20s many adults may have 32 teeth. The final four teeth are known as the “wisdom teeth.” For most patients, there is not enough room for the additional teeth and they must be removed to avoid oral healthcare issues. As part of your complete exams, Dr. Albik will use x-rays to evaluate the current position of the teeth and predict if they could pose a future problem.
Sensitive Tooth Pain
Do you find it difficult to eat or drink hot, cold, or acidic foods or beverages? Sensitive tooth pain can come from a variety of causes including: Worn tooth enamel exposing the underlying dentin, recessed gums, and chipped or broken teeth to name a few. If you are experiencing tooth sensitivity, contact our office to schedule an appointment with Dr. Albik today. Dr. Albik will examine your teeth and gums to find the cause of your sensitive teeth and recommend a treatment plan to eliminate your pain!
Tooth Decay / Cavities
Tooth Decay and Cavities are one of the most common oral health issues we treat in our El Dorado Hills Dental Office. There are many factors that can lead to tooth decay or cavities including drinking beverages high in sugar, tobacco use, bacteria in your mouth, and poor oral hygiene habits. No matter the cause, with early detection treatment for teeth cavities or decay can be treated with a simple composite dental filling and improved oral hygiene habits. Regular dental visits should start as a toddler to promote good oral health habits at a young age. Thanks to our dental staff’s warm and friendly personalities, we welcome your children to join our pediatric dentistry services. For our youngest patients, Dr. Albik takes time to build a trusting relationship with both the child and you, their parents.
